What is a Mining dragline?

Mining dragline or dragline excavator, is mechanized excavator and crawler a type of excavating equipment that is used in large scale works. Dragline has a rope-hung bucket a significant distance.

With respect to heavy-duty machinery, a dragline excavator is among the world’s largest equipment. Mining draglines are not only massive, provide the ability to be highly productive equipment by offering a way to streamline hauling and excavation of large areas. How Mining Draglines Operates

Mining Dragline operates with a shovel or scoop attached to the machine only with cables, which offers it a wide range of action and load. In an excavation cycle of mining operation, a bucket of dragline is dragged to remove material. Dragline bucket collects the dug material from mine by pulling the bucket toward itself on the ground with a another (2nd) rope, which raises the bucket, and dumps the mined material on a pile or hopper.

The drag rope helps to control the scoop or bucket and remove surface material / debris from mine. The bucket is then lifted by using a hoist rope. The swing rope is then used to move the bucket to dump the material on to truck, or hopper.
