Types of Mining Operations

Mining operations can happen underground at the surface. The type of material mined and environment dictate the type of mining required and which type of equipment to be used. Both underground and surface mining have main steps as follows:

Extraction operation

Such operations involves drilling, digging or blasting, in order to remove materials from the mine site.

Mined material processing

This final stage in mining materials handling and processing; involves grinding, crushing, separating, refining, and smelting of mined ore or other materials at an off-site plant to turn them into finished products for use.

Mined material handling

This involves sorting and loading of mined materials to either for the processing site or go to a waste area.

Petron’s traditional engineered lubricants products applications are for slower moving, high load gearing typically found on large mining pit equipment, such as drag lines and electric/hydraulic shovels.  But this application has expanded to include most large bushing applications that are Loaders, Dozers, Road Graders, and Drills. Most of these applications require maximum Anti-Wear additives to protect the bushings.
